Weill Cornell Medicine’s Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) department is deeply committed to our institutional mission to discover, with investigators conducting groundbreaking basic science, and translating these breakthroughs to revolutionize care. Under the leadership of our Chair, Dr. Laura Riley, our researchers apply all areas of scientific inquiry, from basic, translational and clinical research to women’s health.
Our research is collaborative, groundbreaking and always patient-focused. Enriched by our well-established collaborations with Cornell's Ithaca campus, Cornell Tech and our tri-institutional partnership with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and The Rockefeller University, the department
carries out research in all the versatile areas through which we also provide care, from maternal fetal medicine, complex family planning, perinatal mental health and gynecologic oncology. Our department also recently launched the Perinatal Intergenerational Research Institute (PIRI) Biobank, collecting matched samples from mothers and their babies with the goal of using these linked samples to learn more about how pregnancy and childbirth are connected to the parent’s and baby's health.
