Dr. Francisco Blanco, postdoctoral associate in biochemistry and biophysics, was named a recipient of the 2026 NIH Outstanding Scholars in Neuroscience Award Program. The program is designed to recognize those who are conducting exceptional neuroscience research across the nation and have great academic potential in their scientific training.
Dr. Adam Fenton, postdoctoral associate in biochemistry and biophysics, was named a 2026 fellow by the Jane Coffin Childs Fund for Medical Research (JCC). The JCC Fund advances pioneering science by backing postdoctoral fellows conducting fundamental research on cancer and human disease. Awardees are selected based on their research accomplishments to date, research plans, and proposed scientific environment and mentors.
Dr. Mohamed Osman, postdoctoral associate in medicine, was selected as one of five finalists for the 2026 Regeneron Prize for Creative Innovation, a national competition run by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals that recognizes creativity and innovative thinking in biomedical research. Each year, Regeneron invites top American research universities to nominate up-and-coming postdoctoral fellows and graduate students to pitch their “dream projects” within the field of biomedical science.
Dr. Joseph Safdieh, the Richard P. Cohen M.D. Senior Associate Dean for Education, was named Physician Advocate of the Year by the New York State Society of Physician Associates. The society recognizes members who have distinguished themselves in service to patients, the community and the organization. This honor reflects Dr. Safdieh’s commitment to advancing healthcare education, supporting the PA profession and advocating for learners across disciplines.
Ashna Singh, doctoral student in the neuroscience program, was selected to receive a 2026 scholarship for neuroscience and neurobiology by the Dompé Foundation. An Italian biomedical foundation, the group awards competitive scholarships for neurobiology graduate trainees at American universities.
